Across Africa, young innovators are developing digital solutions to some of the continent’s most persistent health challenges, from artificial intelligence and diagnostics to telemedicine, logistics and community health technologies. At ILF 2026, the session “Youth at the Centre: Creating Digital Solutions that Leave No One Behind” made a strong case for moving young people beyond participation to meaningful leadership and co-creation. It also highlighted the institutional, financing, regulatory and implementation barriers that often prevent promising youth-led innovations from moving beyond pilots. 

Beyond ILF 2026 continues that conversation by focusing on what happens next: creating practical pathways for young innovators to access institutions, build partnerships and move promising solutions towards adoption and sustainable scale.

Goal

The webinar aims to mobilise stakeholders around practical pathways that enable young digital health innovators to move from participation and promising pilots towards meaningful partnership, institutional integration and sustainable scale within Africa’s health systems.

Objectives

Build on the key insights and recommendations from ILF 2026 to advance the conversation from youth inclusion towards meaningful participation, integration and scale within Africa’s digital health ecosystem.

• Examine the institutional, regulatory, financing and implementation barriers affecting youth-led digital health innovation and explore how young innovators can better align solutions with government, health-system and community priorities.

• Identify practical roles and opportunities for collaboration among governments, implementing organisations, investors, academia, development partners and young innovators to support innovation beyond early-stage development and strengthen intergenerational and youth-to-youth partnerships.

• Generate practical actions and commitments that can strengthen pathways for youth-led digital health innovation and be tracked through Beyond ILF and revisited at ILF 2027.
